Animal Shelter

The Cedar Center not only finds homes for animals but provides much needed shelter and care for abused and abandoned animals. They receive no public funding for their works and survive on the generosity of the public.

Carboot

The Miranda do Corvo carboot sale has become a great place to find interesting items, gifts, books and more. But it has also become a place for foreigners to gather and enjoy a day out. It is one of the Center's main fund raising activities.

Adopt a Pet

Many of the animals that come to The Cedar Center are suitable for re-homing, if you are looking for a new pet please visit us first. Give an animal a new lease on life, you won't regret it.

Be A Sponsor

A number of animals will never leave the Center and are not suitable for rehoming. Mostly they have serious health problems and as such the Center keeps as many of these as long as they can. Consider sponsoring one of these animals to support their upkeep.

We couldn't do all the good work we do without the help and support of a great number of people and organisations who donate their time, goods, services and support. As we don't receive any public funding we rely on these people and organisations and most importantly on you the public. Our grateful thanks to you all. Please take a moment to look at the people and organisations who support us and where possible please support them in turn.

WHAT WE USE

We care for a variety of animals and all of them need to be cared for and especially fed! Below you will see where a large portion of where our limited funds are spent.

On average per month we purchase
170 tins of cat food - we use tins for the cats because they do not fight over the food and it is instantly consumed
500 kg (in 20 kilo sacks) dry dog food,
20 bags of litter
600kg (40 bales) of hay
10kg approx. for small animals, kittens and puppies
160 kig (in 40 kilo sacks) feed mixture for donkeys

You won't believe how much we go through in a month see below for details. Your donation at the monthly carboot can help us, what we don't spend on food we can spend on improving facilities.

We would like to thank everyone ONCE AGAIN ! who donated food for the cats and dogs it is gratefully received. The amount is getting larger and it all helps, so thank you for your support, your generosity helped feed most of the animals at the center this month so thanks to all of you who donated! Remember the bootfair will be in the gardens until the end of the summer !

The next bootfair will be held in the gardens on Sunday the 5 th september

Please if you can bring a bag of dried dog food, cat food,puppy,kitten or a bag of kitty litter it would be gratefully received .

Also folks as the bootfair is now in the gardens you will need to bring your own table , set up is at around 7.30am and closes when everyone sells all their goods or when it bootfair tails off (no pun intended ), there is no official finish time of bootfair.

A MASSIVE THANK YOU TO EVERYONE WHO BOUGHT RAFFLE TICKETS , IT HELPED RAISE GREATLY NEEDED MONEY FOR THE ANIMALS AND WAS ABIT OF FUN FOR EVERYONE ! THANK YOU EVER SO MUCH FOR BUYING TICKETS ! TARA AND EMILY WILL BE THERE TO SELL YOU A FEW ANIMAL CENTER PENS AND BEARS AT A MODEST 5 EUROS A BEAR WHICH PAYS FOR A BAG OF CAT OR DOG FOOD FOR THE MONTH OR A CEDARCENTER.COM PEN FOR ONLY A EURO ! IF YOU DONT WISH TO BRING FOOD TO THE FAIR SEE YOU THERE FOLKS !
