Pet Sitting Service
Sadly, many of our animals are unable to be rehomed and will rely on the centre for their continuing care. We receive no public funding for this work and rely on the support of the local and international community and the monthly carboot sale in Miranda do Corvo.
The Future of the Cedar Centre
IMPORTANT ANNOUNCEMENT: It is with deep sadness and regret that after almost 20 years, the Cedar Centre has made the difficult and heart breaking decision to close. This decision is the result of several important factors, including the current economic climate, the loss of a key member of staff, the increasing costs of providing our animals with the essential care and safe shelter they need and a shortage of volunteers. The Cedar Centre will continue to care for the 25+ animals currently in our care but will be making urgent appeals for as many homes as we can find, particularly for our 8 dogs. We are all very sad to be announcing the closure of the centre which has provided much needed care and shelter for countless injured, unwanted, neglected and abandoned animals in central Portugal over many years. We are aware of the desperate need for a facility of this kind in this area and hope that our friends and supporters will understand how difficult this decision has been. The time scale for closure will be over 12-18 months and will be managed by Barry & Lorraine, together with our small team of volunteers. We would be grateful if you could all share this announcement which may help us to rehome some of our animals. We are so sorry that the Cedar Centre can no longer accept new animals into our care.
The details of all animals currently at the Cedar Centre can be found on our website : www.thecedarcentre.com.
For any enquires regarding animals available for adoption from the Cedar Centre, please contact Lynne on 911523919 or email us at: firstname.lastname@example.org.
We'd like to say a huge thank you to all our volunteers for the time, care and dedication you continue to show our animals and to our friends for your support and donations over the years, without your help the centre would not have been able to continue for so long.
Please be assured that whilst managing the difficult and challenging process involved with the closure of the Cedar Centre, we will continue to provide the essential and vital care required by our wonderful animals and will do everything in our powers to re-home them all in the best homes possible.
Best wishes and thank you from all at The Cedar Centre
PERSONAL MESSAGE FROM BARRY & YVONNE: We would like you all to know how sorry we both are and very sad that we have decided to phase out The Cedar Centre.
It has been a rewarding and often heart breaking 20 years taking in and caring for so many hundreds of animals of all shapes and sizes, from hedgehogs to our lovely donkeys.
We all know how difficult it is to not be able to help some of them and the inevitable ending of their lives but we have loved them all whilst they were in our care and will continue to do the best for the ones that are still with us.
We thank you all for your support and help which came in so many ways, also for all of you giving your time to make their lives happier.
With all our best wishes and grateful thanks
Yvonne & Barry
Co-founders of The Cedar Centre
The Clinic has recently been restored to its former glory enabling us to provide our animals at the centre with regular, routine care of teeth, nails and ears etc and also to support any visiting veterinarians
It is important to note that all of the animals that are in the care of the Cedar Centre will be cared for until they are either adopted or pass away from natural causes. We do not put any of our animals down unless it is for clinical reasons or on the advice of our vet.
